3 months

Today I celebrate 3 months of an amazing exchange! How cool is that?!

There is something really cool at my school called la fiesta de los colores! Or the party of the colours. This actually originated at my school but is now spread out through the entire city. We have one of the biggest events and we are known for the best esquemas in all the city!
I can't remember if if talked to you about this before (I'm sure I have) but it's a sports festival where all the students are assigned a colour. I got yellow, but there are also blue, red and green. I won both my tug of war matches and one out of two of the volley ball games. This event took place for four days but the last day was really the best!
The last night was the best because we had the esquemas (the dancing thing) and the anouncement for who wins!

Here are the links to the blue and yellow esquemas:
I'm still trying to find the links for green and red.
Anyways, here are some pictures from te last night!
By the way, yellow went crazy because we won!!! I guess I must be extremely lucky!
As you can see the girls that danced in the esquemas wore onesies/cat suits.
There was a ton of people!
There was a big after party that night but we all knew it would be really crowded so a couple of my close friends came over to my house and we had a movie night.

Thursday I went to another schools esquemas to see a friend preform and it was hilarious but really different from our esquemas.
This is what he had to wear (earlier on in the night he spray died his hair red too but then washed it out)

Wednesday was the last day of school so we didn't do any work, instead we ate cake and drank tereré. Of course we took lots of selfies too. Afterwards, we took the bus (my first time in the bus) to a classmates ranch outside the city. We bought food before hand, along with lots of water ballons! Let's just say I got soaked and didn't have a change of clothes. Oops. I guess I didn't read the whole text message.
(There are more but this is enough)

Then last night my friend had his art displayed in an art exposition which was really cool!
I'm still waiting for more pictures from last night. I had low battery so I couldn't take my own.

This is the majority of what you've been missing. I'm sorry for not updating in so long!

Love hannah <3 (that's a heart)

Dresses and Dinners

Yesterday we had nothing to do so I took Nuria and decided to walk downtown. We thought it would be fun to go into dress stores and try on different gowns. I would show you the ugly ones, but... I've already deleted those picture.
Personally I like the colourful ones better. But now you kind of have an idea of what long gowns in Argentina are like.

We walked around the city for 4 hours! I was wearing sandals so by the time we got to grandma's my feet were happy to sit down take a break and eat some ice cream.

Speaking of eating...
Dinner times have changed drastically. When I first got here we used to eat every day at 9:30 (half way through criminal minds)
Then sometimes more like ten
Now it's usually more around 10:30!
That's a whole hour difference?
Surely a change from 6-8 o'clock Canadian dinners!!

Friday the 13th

Today is an unlucky day but I'm feeling pretty lucky to be here in Argentina!
I'll update you if anything spooky happens!

Morning storm

This morning I woke up and it felt quiet hot in the house. To my surprise it was was there was lighting and thunder everywhere. It felt so close as I was walking to school. Almost as if I needed to dodge it. Luckily I made it to school before it started pouring rain.

Oh and last night I watched a movie with my host parents that was actually quite good in Spanish it's called "Antes de despertar" which translats to before waking up in English, but the English version of the movie is "Before I go to sleep" which makes more sense I think. Maybe you've seen it maybe you haven't, but when you do you will understand the title more.

Happy Remembrance Day Canada!

I hope you all wore your poppies today and took your moment of silence to remember and honour those who have served and are serving for us and the freedom of our beautiful country.

Now here's a recap on what's been happening.

I decided to make dinner one night for my friends and family.
Sometimes I had to improvise...
And some of them didn't turn out..
I cooked for 2 days to make enough.
There was some measuring problems. I guess my conversations weren't spot on.
Not all the ingredients were the same either..
Even though my food tasted horrible, everyone lied to me and told it was yummy.
I also made Creme de la sucre (a Canadian dessert) but it turned rock hard.

I offered to order pizza but my firends were really good sports about it!

Just so you guys know this is my favourite tea that I drink almost everyday... (I think I may have already told you this)

Now here comes a fun part! I was driving with my host-parents and host-brother to Rosario to drop off Léo (my brother). If you don't already know that is where he goes to university. (And I wasn't driving! My host parents were! I'm a good exchange student! I'm not breaking rules!)
So we are driving along and I see this and start screaming "giant duck!" Because that is the translation in Spanish.
He was just sitting there on the side of the road.
Yes they call peacocks giant chickens. But seriously how rare is that! And to think my host parents asked me if I wanted to stay home!
Of course I made my host dad pull over so I could jump out of the truck to take some pictures as the giant chicken ran away.

English is hard...

Ok how did I manage to get 8.20 /10 on my English test?! This must be a mistake!
The grinch taught me stink stank stunk but have you ever heard of swim swam swum?! Yes that's right swum! I don't know if it's just me but I have never heard of this word ever! Apparently it is the past participle.

The little emoji guy I drew was me trying to explain the word embarrassed. And I found the conversation between my friend and the teacher quite funny!
Also my poor friend sitting next to me during the test, I led him astray! There is a part on the test where you need to complete the sentences with a sport. The sentence was: ________ is like roller skating on snow. He put snowboarding. Well in my mind that just didn't make any sense!  I thought skiing or snowshoeing  might be a more appropriate choice. Well I was wrong... The answer was snowboarding and he got it wrong because of me.

I guess we were supposed to use special vocal or something. I'm not quite sure. My sentence was: A river with rapids is ideal to go {blank}. I put rafting, the teacher wanted kayaking I guess.

Too fat

No more dulce de leche for me! I have officially gotten too fat! I ripped my pants today... At least it was only on the side and not down the bum.
Where is the gym?!
